When an item is kept past a certain point, it is marked lost and a replacement fee is added to your Library account. These fees apply to all students, faculty, and staff and unpaid replacement fees will pause your borrowing and renewal privileges until the issue is resolved.
You can pay replacement fees by debit or credit at the Main Services Desk or by calling (909) 621-8150. If you want to ask about providing your own replacement copy or have questions about charges please email library@claremont.edu.
Below is a quick guide to when different item types are billed and what the replacement costs are:
Course Readings
Billed after: 24 hours overdue
Replacement fee: $100 or the actual cost if higher
Resource Sharing Items
Billed after: 30 days overdue
Replacement fee: $100 or the amount charged by the lending library
Tech Lending Items
Billed after: 7 days overdue
Replacement fee: Cost of replacing the item
Study Room Keys
Billed after: 7 days overdue
Replacement fee: $100
General Collection Items (Books, DVDs, etc.)
Billed after: 30 days overdue
Replacement fee: $100 or the actual cost if higher
