The Claremont Colleges Library provides access to The Washington Post in two ways: individual online subscriptions and through our databases.

Individual The Washington Post Online Subscription

The Claremont Colleges Library now offers access to The Washington Post online, which includes the News, Games, Recipes, Podcasts, and more from 2004 to the present. After setting up your account, you can access The Washington Post content directly through the www.washingtonpost.com site and their mobile app.

Please see our Instructions for Setting Up Your Account.

The Washington Post Database Access

The Claremont Colleges Library has access to the current The Washington Post (1987 to present), which can be found in the Library Search or Search journals by searching for Washington Post.

Library newspaper databases provide access to the current and historical print version of the publication. Current issues appear in plain text format, while older articles are PDF scans of the print version. These databases are primarily text-based, so you may not see photographs, blogs, charts, advertisements like you would from the newspaper website.

Helpful Tips & Tricks for finding newspaper articles:

  • If you find an article on The Washington Post website but don't have full text access to it, you can search by the title in the current The Washington Post (1987 to present) database (or use your Washington Post individual online subscription).

  • Some articles published by The Washington Post are only available on their website. These online-only articles are not available in Library databases. Use your Washington Post individual online subscription to find these articles.

  • If you don't find the article in the Library's database by searching for the title or author, try browsing through issues by the publication date.

  • Sometimes article titles (and publication dates) will change between the print version of the paper and web version (or vice versa).
