A PMID (PubMed unique identifier) is the unique identifier number used in MEDLINE and PubMed to identify an article. Similar to a DOI, the PMID is assigned to each article record when it enters the PubMed system and can be found on the article's record page. PMIDs will stay with the article forever as its unique identifier. They do not change over time and are never reused.
