LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that helps you quickly find and access academic articles through the Library. It connects you to articles the Library subscribes to and to free Open Access versions when available, so you can get to the full text of the article, faster.

Benefits of using the extension

  • One-click access to articles: When you're browsing sites like publisher pages, PubMed, Google Scholar or Wikipedia references, LibKey Nomad adds a button that takes you directly to the full article if the Library has access.
  • Finds free Open Access versions: If the Library doesn't subscribe to a journal that has the article you're looking for, the extension checks sources like Unpaywall to see if a free version is available.
  • No extra logins: LibKey Nomad uses the Library's authentication system so you don't need to create or remember new usernames or passwords.
  • Easy article requests: If the article isn't available through the Library, LibKey Nomad quickly links you to the Library's Resource Sharing service so you can request a copy for free.

Important Note

Some browser may hide your exact location, which may affect access to Library resources when you are on campus. When installing LibKey Nomad using Chrome, you may also see a warning saying that the extension can "Read and change all your data on websites you visit." This message can sound concerning but the extension is safe. It only checks certain websites to identify article DOIs (digital object identifiers) and then adds a link to help you access the article through the Library if it's available.
