The Library has several ways to assist you with Open Access publishing.
Read and Publish Agreements
While we do not currently offer direct funding to offset APC costs, several of our traditional journal subscriptions have been renegotiated into Read and Publish Agreements. These agreements redirect a portion of our subscriptions spending toward an Open Access publication allowance for institutional authors. In most cases, this allowance fully covers publication costs for TCC authors, though some fully OA journals may be covered at a reduced rate. Learn more about these agreements on our Publishing Open Access guide.
Open Journal Finder
You can use the Open Journal Finder tool to explore detailed information about journals included in The Claremont Colleges’ agreements, as well as other sponsored titles that provide opportunities to publish Open Access at no charge.
Self-Archiving
In all cases, unless you have contractually transferred your copyright to the publisher, you are the copyright owner of your work and therefore have the right to make it Open Access by depositing a pre-print, post-print, or a Version of Record into The Claremont Colleges Institutional Repository, Scholarship@Claremont, or another suitable repository.
For more information on self-archiving, please refer to the Library FAQ: Do I have the right to self-archive?
