The Claremont Colleges Library provides access to newspapers and news sources in two ways: individual online subscriptions for select titles and to hundreds of titles through our databases.

Individual Online Subscriptions

The Claremont Colleges Library now offers individual subscriptions to the following newspapers. Register for an account to get full access to a newspaper's website and mobile apps.

For more information about setting up your individual accounts, please see our Newspaper Access guide.

Newspaper Database Access

Newspapers and news sources can be found on the library databases page.

Please note: Newspaper articles available in library databases may be available as PDFs or HTML. Not all of the newspaper databases use the same graphic interface as newspaper websites.

Follow these steps to begin searching the wide variety of historical and current news sources available through the Library:

  • Go to the Library homepage at https://library.claremont.edu
  • Click on the Databases link found under Library Search
  • Click on the All Formats drop-down and select Newspapers & News Sources or search by the title of the periodical (example: Los Angeles Times).

Additional Tips for Searching for Newspaper and News Sources

  • Search by title. Open the newspaper database, for example, Los Angeles Times (current), then paste in the title of the article and select the Document Title - TITLE limiter.

  • Search by year. Open the newspaper database, for example the New York Times (current), then select the Publication Date limiter and click on Search to view all articles available from that time period.
